Grandma's Oatmeal Cookies

How She captured Grandpa's Heart

Vinatge Oatmeal CookiesHere's the story as related by my friend, Shannon: "My grandmother made these for my grandfather before they were married. They were part of the reason he fell head over heels for her."

They are thin, crisp, and very buttery. This recipe is easy to double.

Combine flour, baking soda, and salt. In separate bowl, cream butter, white sugar, and brown sugar. Add eggs and vanilla. Gradually beat in flour mixture. Mix in nuts and raisins. Drop from teaspoon 2 inches apart onto greased or nonstick cookie sheets.

Bake in preheated 375 degree oven for 10–12 min. Cool on wire racks. Makes 6 dozen.
