The Richelieu

1916 Sterling system Homes

The Richelieu plan, offered by International Mill & Timber as one of its Sterling System homes in 1916, is a classic Craftsman-style bungalow. Two bedrooms and a shared bath comprise the private spaces in this little house. The living and dining rooms are open as expected.

The kitchen has a pantry alcove, which is an interesting and convenient feature. A small den off the livingroom might have served as an office or "man cave" back in the day. The entry leads to a closed vestibule (not typically considered a "bungalow" feature) which served "as a buffer between the interior and the weather."
