Modern Home No. 264B234

1916 Sears Roebuck Modern Homes

For the low cost of $1376, a homebuyer could obtain the plans and materials (exclusive of land, foundation, utilities, cement, brick, and plaster) and have it shipped by Sears, Roebuck from a little catalog of house plans. Such was the advantage of a modern railroad system and depots in almost every burg and hamlet from New York to Seattle. A beautiful bungalow, like Modern Home No. 264B234 with all the latest amenities, like an inglenook, open floor plan, and box beamed ceilings ... to say nothing of an INDOOR bathroom ... provided its owners about 1380 sq. ft. of living space.

This home was offered in subsequent catalogs as the Hollywood, with a choice of two plans.
