Though Bowes' first book, Modern American Homes published in 1918, was rather amaturish by almost any standard, this book was distinctive for the full color plates of every home. If for no other reason, it's a treat to look at. This simple center-hall Colonial Revival would have been an appealing home to the majority of home buyers during the 1920s. Though simple, it has a grand entry and hall, a breakfast nook, and porch at the rear of the house.
