In addition to linoleum floors, rugs like this one became popular because they were so much easier to maintain. A little sweeping or a quick damp mop took care of most clean up. This image was published in Ladies Home Journal during the affiliation between Armstrong and Frank Alvah Parsons, who later became the namesake of the Parsons School of Design.
