This room was shown in a 1940 Ladies Home Journal as part of a series about "How America Lives." According to US government statistics cited, American homeowners spent about 45 of their income on feathering their nests in 1940. Note the beautiful Craftsman style woodwork and French doors that provide a rich foil for the warm mango and floral scheme.
