The illustrations of the 1920s were remarkable for their craft, design, and color. The names of the designers include the well known like Coles Phillips with his "fadeaway girls" to other lesser known artists like Maurice Day, known to us as the originator of Bambi for Walt Disney. Many others are virtually unknown ... celebrated in the 1920s, they vanish into obscurity by the 1930s as the Depression and photography make their skill and talent obsolete.
